61 killed in train crash

AN express train plowed into a stationary passenger train in eastern India yesterday killing 61 people.
The impact was so powerful it thrust the roof of one car on to an overpass and officials said they could not rule out sabotage by Maoist rebels.
Residents crawled over the twisted wreckage trying desperately to free survivors before rescue workers arrived with heavy equipment to cut through the metal.
Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee, who rushed to the site, raised the possibility the crash could have been another case of sabotage, two months after rebels were blamed for a derailment that killed 145 people

?Do my services have value?? ?No!?
Jul 29th
?Do my services have value?? ?No!? End of conversation. But what if you stay in the (unspoken) conversation and wonder, ?What are they actually saying no to, and why?? They could be saying no to having the conversation now, or to a perceived misfit between their needs and your services, or even to the person they couldn?t say no to 10 minutes earlier!
Viewed in this light, the imagined door slamming shut in your face shifts to a swinging door. Even if it shuts, you?re likely to come away with useful information about the needs of this prospect, or about how to better position your services for your target client. Even if it shuts on him or her as a prospect, you?ve gotten the word out to one more person about your services.
Another conversation stopper, particularly seductive for service professionals: ?I Can?t Sell Myself?.

High blood pressure can be a serious
Jul 29th
High blood pressure can be a serious health problem.
High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a common risk factor for heart disease and kidney disease and a host of other health problems.
Heart disease remains the number one killer of adults in the U.S. and one in four adults have high blood pressure as a health issue.
Some adults are aware of their high blood pressure and the health issues it can cause, and others are not.
High blood pressure can’t be cured, but it can be managed with medications, a healthy diet, and moderate exercise, among other things.
There are many things that a person who has high blood pressure can do.
One of them is to eat a healthy diet.
But what does a healthy diet mean?
Reduce the fat that you eat – Reduce your intake of fried foods. Grill, stew, bake instead.
* Stick with unsaturated fats (Monounsaturated & Polyunsaturated). Studies have shown that these fats actually lower the LDL (the bad stuff) cholesterol and maintain HDL (the good stuff) cholesterol.
* Start having low fat dairy product, i.e. 1% – 2% fat milk, cottage cheese, yogurts.

Guidelines to Protect Your Health and Reduce Your Plumbing Bills

What can whole house water purification do for you?
The best whole house water purifiers reduce chemical contaminants commonly found in publicly treated supplies. They reduce particulates and protect your pipes, fixtures and plumbing. In other words, they protect your family’s health and reduce plumbing bills.
But, it is important to do some comparative shopping before you buy a whole house water purification unit. The price range is quite shocking. Don’t accept the company claims at face value either. They should provide independent verification of all of their claims. Here are some guidelines to help with your shopping.
The Truth about Reverse Osmosis Whole House Water Purifiers
At one time reverse osmosis whole house water purifiers were all the “rage”. They have fallen out of favor for a number of reasons.
First, the systems reduce any naturally occurring mineral content. It’s basically like drinking distilled water and many researchers believe that drinking de-mineralized H20 is bad for your digestive system and can lead to a serious electrolyte imbalance as well as nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, it is bad for your overall health.
Second, reverse osmosis whole house water purification creates gallons of wastewater. The more effective the system, the more wastewater it will create.
Third, RO does not remove any of the common chemical contaminants, will not remove bacterial contaminants and it is simply unnecessary in homes connected to publicly treated supplies

High-tech chalkboards play role in schools’ cash shortage

Montgomery County schools are likely to come up nearly $2 million short next year to pay for high-tech chalkboards, according to district documents, and the County Council is warning schools will need to find more cuts.
The shortfall is part of ongoing frustrations between the district and the council, which serves as the schools’ funding authority. Though the interactive “smart boards” are already in the classrooms, members of the council say the schools acquired them without permission, leaving the county on the hook for the funds.
In 2008, the school system leased 2,600 of them at $5,000 a piece. The four-year, $13 million lease relied on a steady stream of federal funds designed to help districts pay for Internet connectivity for schools and libraries.
That money, according to a budget overview by the district’s office of technology in late March, is estimated to be about $1.7 million in 2010, or about half of the $3.4 million expectation cited in a Friday memo from Superintendent Jerry Weast to the council’s education committee.
Since the lease came to the attention of the County Council earlier this year, members have expressed frustration with being kept in the dark and have shown little desire to hand over more money.
“They’ll have to find offsetting cuts someplace else,” said Councilwoman Valerie Ervin, chairwoman of the education committee. “The budget is what it is. We’re already expecting $50 million less to the county from the state.”
The reshuffling of funds would likely come within the technology budget, meaning the possibility of delayed modernization at schools.
“This is an ongoing problem,” Ervin said

Research and Markets Adds Report: ‘The Wireless Sensor Network
0 Comments | Wireless News, Apr 15, 2010
Research and Markets has announced the addition of the “The Wireless Sensor Network Technology Trends Q1 2010″ report.
In a release, Research and Markets noted that report highlights include:
Many of the technologies competing for market share in the Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) are all still in an emergent state. WSNs will particularly invade home and building applications. This new report demonstrates that while the usual listing of home security, entertainment and lighting control, automated fire containment and alarm, burglar deterrence, etc. are all important, the application in energy use monitoring and utility management will be immense.
The report finds that nearly 70 percent of the average household utility bill could be influenced by WSN application to temperature and lighting. It also establishes that home and building owners can use interactive energy management tools to create energy management profiles that are triggered by certain established consumption rates. As energy consumption exceeds a specific point, the WSN can automatically begin turning off low priority lighting, heating, and cooling zones, using wireless humidity and temperature sensors as well as lighting and access monitors. Wireless outdoor motion sensors could remain active while other specific energy consumers could be dimmed.
Other sectors are likely to be strongly influenced by the adoption of WSN technology. The Industrial Sector is likely to undergo workflow churn as WSN applications increase safety, reliability and efficiency of industrial facilities. Frequency agility requirements are driving evolution toward industrial standards. AMR management proves a very significant opportunity in the Utilities Sector

With anti-ageing beauty expert Lesley Reynolds Khan Trinny’s no- knife ‘face-lift’ I think it’s great that Trinny Woodall admitted this week to having Botox and laser treatments to hold back the years. Most celebrities hide the fact they have these treatments, leading us to believe that good genes are the reason they’re line- free and look 10 years younger than their actual age. And that just makes the rest of us mere mortals feel totally inadequate!
One of the best things about Trinny’s “confession” is that it highlighted a laser called Fraxel re:pair, which is a fantastic tool in the war against ageing and acne scarring. Trinny said: “For the past few years I have been enjoying the painful pleasures of Fraxel, a laser that lifts and tightens the skin, especially around the jawline.”
So what is Fraxel? Fraxel re:pair is a laser that uses high intensity carbon dioxide to vapourise old, damaged skin cells. But it doesn’t remove the entire surface of the skin – it punctures thousands of microscopic holes which stimulates your body’s natural healing process and the formation of new collagen.
But be sure to look for Fraxel re:pair as there are other Fraxel lasers that don’t give the same results.
During the procedure a topical anaesthetic is applied to your skin to numb it, as the laser can be painful. Even with anaesthetic this treatment has an “ouch factor” as Trinny well knows.
The laser tip is then rolled over your skin, piercing the microscopic holes. You can get pinpricks of blood on the skin surface and for the first couple of days afterwards you’ll look puffy and very red
